The Town of Cape Carteret is currently accepting bids for the collection and removal of vegetative and C & D (Construction & Demolition) debris for the anticipated storm season for July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011. This would be an “on call” contract that would require the Contractor to respond immediately after receiving a notification by Public Works Supervisor Malcolm “Buddy” Dew or the Mayor of Cape Carteret. To date, FEMA has not initiated a briefing meeting with the County or municipalities. Carteret County still recommends a volume-based contract such as weight or cubic yards. In the following link, RFP Packet, please find our bid package for your consideration, which includes: Bid Instructions, Scope of Work for Time and Material first 70 hours, Scope of Work for Debris removal after 70 hours, Proposal form for Time and Material Debris Removal Contract, Proposal form for Debris removal Contract, and a Statement of Assurances and Compliance. Proposals will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Friday, June 4, 2010. The bid opening is scheduled for noon on Monday, June 7, 2010 in the Board of Commissioners meeting room. Please do not hesitate to contact Buddy Dew, Public Works Supervisor at 252-393-8483 if you need further information. Please mail bids to the Town of Cape Carteret, Attn: Debris Removal Proposal, 102 Dolphin St., Cape Carteret, NC 28584. Faxes will not be accepted. We look forward to receiving your proposal. Stormwater Control |
Stormwater is always a major concern in a coastal town, and in Cape Carteret it is no different. There are a number of ditches, culverts, and other features in place to help reduce the chance of flooding by stormwater. These features require continuous maintenance to make sure they are functioning properly. Many times through the course of development, these features get altered unknowingly. Please know where these features are located in relationship to your property, and help us keep them free of vegetative overgrowth and trash. |

Parks |
The Town currently maintains 10 different parks located throughout the town. There are waterfront parks located at a number of the street ends of the town. These parks provide wonderful opportunities to enjoy the environment and contain picnic benches as well as charcoal style grills. A couple of these parks have been used as the setting for some residents' weddings. In addition, there is a picnic area located directly behind Town Hall, as well as one being planned in Quailwood Village. There is also a childrens park planned on Bahia Lane in Star Hill North. For a location of these parks, please feel free to check out our Map of Town Parks. |

Road Maintenance |
The Town of Cape Carteret tries to ensure residents are provided safe roads on which to drive on. This includes the regular maintenance of roads, shoulders, and signage in and on town streets. Each year the town contracts out for paving projects that need to be done. This includes resurfacing projects as well as widenings and increased turning radius'. If you know of an area that needs to be addressed, please let us know so we can add it to the list. |
