Tax Information The 2009 tax rate for the Town of Cape Carteret is 14 cents per hundred dollars of tax value. The assessments of tax value are done by Carteret County and the town is unable to adjust those assessed values. The 2009 tax rate for Carteret County is 23 cents per hundred dollars of assessed value. So combined, a resident would pay $4.85 per thousand dollars of tax value. Tax bills typically become delinquent the first Tuesday in January. Boat Ramp Information Residents of the town may use the boat ramp located at the end of Dolphin St for an annual fee of $50. This ramp, upgraded this past January with a new pier and ramp is open year round and provides a wonderful alternative to the often overcrowded public ramps. In order to get a boat ramp pass, you will need to show the following: 1) Vehicle(s) registration that you would be using to tow your boat(s) with. 2) Boat(s) registration 3) Trailer(s) registration 4) Check of Cash for cost of permit Boat ramp passes can be purchased at Town Hall during normal business hours. For those residing outside of Cape Carteret, the annual cost for a boat ramp pass is $350. There is a $200 fine assessed for use of the boat ramp without a valid pass in place.
